Pakistani star accused of ‘murder’ and ‘fraud’ after announcing second marriage amid T20 World Cup

Nothing is going right for Pakistan cricket at the moment. Former Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim has been accused of murder and fraud. He has retired from all formats of international cricket and now only appears as a cricket analyst on various talk shows in Pakistan. He will feature for Islamabad United in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 season.

Ahead of the PSL season, the former Pakistani star has announced his second marriage with Naila Raja. On Monday, he announced his second marriage through an Instagram post. After this announcement, he created controversy as his first wife Sania Ashfaq accused him of child abortion in 2023, and she also criticized Islamabad United for selecting him in the team.

Imad Wasim said on Instagram, “I went through one of the hardest chapters of my life after my marriage didn’t work out. Yet, that chapter gave me the greatest blessing of my life, my children. I love them beyond words, and that love will never change.”

“I held on longer than expected, holding on to hope and trying to protect what was most important to me. In doing so, I made decisions that I regret. My delay and silence contributed to a situation where an innocent person was unfairly judged and faced criticism she did not deserve. I take full responsibility for this, and I bear that burden with honesty and remorse.”

“By the grace of Allah and the guidance of my parents, I am now married to Nayla. This step was taken thoughtfully and with clear intentions to build a life rooted in peace, stability, and mutual respect. Nayla has brought peace, respect, and strength to my life, and I stand by this decision with full confidence.”

He further said that he will take care of his children. He said, “Above everything else, my commitment is to my children. Fatherhood is defined not by mere provision, but by presence, love and guidance. Despite giving my best, I am still unable to see them. My only desire is to be actively and meaningfully involved in their lives for their well-being and their future.”

“I move forward with accountability for my past, respect for everyone involved, and hope for healing, understanding, and peace.”

Imad concluded, “I respectfully ask that my private life be treated with dignity and privacy. Not everything needs to be debated publicly, and not every chapter needs commentary. Sometimes, the most meaningful way to move forward is with compassion, restraint, and respect for boundaries.”
