Pakistan women’s team announced for South Africa ODI and T20 tour; Captaincy to Fatima Sana

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday, January 14, announced the Pakistan women’s squad for the upcoming ODI and T20I tour of South Africa. Fatima Sana will continue to lead the Pakistan women’s team for the upcoming multi-format tour, which is scheduled to begin on February 10 in Potchefstroom.

The T20I series will take place in Potchefstroom, Benoni and Kimberley from February 10 to 16, with all matches scheduled as day-night games. After the T20I, Pakistan will play a practice match in Kimberley. The ODI series will be played from 22 February to 1 March in Bloemfontein, Centurion and Durban.

PCB announces Pakistan women’s squad for South Africa tour; Fatima Sana will remain captain

Fatima Sana will remain the captain in both ODIs and T20Is following Pakistan’s withdrawal after a disappointing performance in the Women’s World Cup 2025. The tour gives the team a chance to recuperate and prepare for the next major event in England and Wales.

Pakistan has included new faces in the T20 team. Uncapped batsman Saira Jabeen and right-arm fast bowler Humna Bilal have earned their maiden international call-ups as the team looks to build depth in the shortest format.

Experienced players Ayesha Zafar, Gul Firozha, Tasmiya Rubab and wicketkeeper-batsman Naziha Alvi, who missed World Cup selection last year, have returned to the 50-over setup.

A number of players will feature in both formats, including Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Gul Firuza, Muniba Ali, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvez, Rameen Shamim, Sadiya Iqbal, Sidra Amin and Tasmiya Rubab.

Some players are selected for only one format. Diana Baig, Naziha Alvi, Sadaf Shamas and Syeda Arub Shah only appear in the ODI squad. Humna Bilal, Saira Jabeen, Tooba Hasan and Ayman Fatima are included in the only T20I group.

The team will participate in a training camp in Karachi before the tour. The camp will run from 1 to 6 February at the Hanif Mohammed High Performance Centre, helping the team prepare before departure.

The team will travel with the entire support staff. Wahab Riaz will act as the mentor, while Imran Farhat will act as the batting coach. The group also includes coaches for fast bowling, spin, fielding and fitness as well as a performance analyst, team manager, physiotherapist and media manager.
