Pakistan has announced its 15-member squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in England next month.

As expected, Fatima Sana has been appointed to lead the team. Pakistan women’s team recently concluded the white-ball series against Zimbabwe. Only one change has been made to the team to face Zimbabwe, with experienced fast bowler Diana Baig replacing uncapped Amber Kaynat.

Five players in Pakistan team are ready to play their first World Cup

Out of the 15 players of the team, 5 will play in the T20 World Cup for the first time. Iman Fatima, Natalia Parvez, Ramin Shamim, Saira Jabeen and Tasmiya Rubab will get their first experience of the showpiece event.

The Pakistan team has never reached the knockout stage of the T20 World Cup and they would like to change that. Apart from the five players making their World Cup debut, the squad also includes a wealth of experience.

Batsmen like Nashra Sandhu, Diana Baig and captain Fatima Sana along with batsmen like Muniba Ali and Ayesha Zafar have ample experience. Gul Firozha is also coming into the team after going through a great form.

The experienced campaigner missed the T20 World Cup for the first time since her debut.

For the first time since 2009, Pakistan will prepare for the T20 World Cup without spinner Nida Dar. Dar is the fifth-highest wicket-taker in T20I history and is Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in the format, as well as their most capped player.

After losing his central contract in 2024, former captain Dar took an indefinite break from cricket in 2025 due to personal reasons. She has not played any cricket since the last Women’s T20 World Cup in October 2024.

However, in their absence, relatively more experienced campaigners like Aliya Riaz, Muniba Ali and Nashra Sandhu along with captain Fatima Sana will take charge of the team. Sana will be especially happy after her record-breaking half-century against Zimbabwe on Friday.

Pakistan’s upcoming schedule for T20 World Cup

Before the showpiece event, Pakistan will play a T20I tri-series against West Indies and Ireland. All matches are scheduled to take place in Dublin. The team for that series is the same as the team that will play the T20 World Cup.

In the World Cup, Pakistan has been placed in Group A along with South Africa, Australia, India, Bangladesh and Netherlands.

Pakistan will start its campaign against arch-rivals India on June 14 in Birmingham. They will stop in Birmingham to play South Africa on June 17 before taking on Bangladesh in Southampton on June 20.

After this, Pakistan will play Australia in Leeds on 23 June and Netherlands in Bristol on 27 June.
