Pakistan will have to find a new team to host as the chances of Afghanistan coming to Pakistan for the series are very slim.
Pakistan are currently having the busiest domestic season among all the teams in the world, as they will be hosting three different teams in different formats of the game over the course of two months.
Currently, they are hosting a long series across all three formats of the game. The series is expected to stretch till November, with two Test matches and three 3-match series in two white-ball formats. This compelling program has been arranged to help Mike Hesson finalize a squad ahead of the two upcoming World Cups in 2026 and 2027.
PCB is facing criticism from Afghanistan this time
The PCB has been facing criticism since the Asia Cup, first for their controversial moves against ICC match referees, then for their disrespectful behavior with Indian fans, and finally for their blatant usurpation of the Asia Cup trophy won by champion team India.
Amidst all these controversies, if Afghanistan refuses to go to Pakistan for the triangular series next month, then they may have to face another big blow. Pakistan were scheduled to play Afghanistan in a T20I series before the Asia Cup; However, they turned it into a triangular series by including Asia Cup hosts United Arab Emirates.
This time, they are expected to host a T20I tri-series with a tour of Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. However, given the cross-border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, they may stop their players from traveling to the neighboring country citing security reasons.
Under such circumstances, the PCB will have to find a replacement team to continue with its plans for the T20I tri-series.
It is time for the PCB to start looking for a replacement team, as it is now extremely unlikely Afghanistan will tour Pakistan for a tri-series next month, with the third team being Sri Lanka. pic.twitter.com/WI5ANQGhEP

Pakistan to host Sri Lanka for long white-ball tour
Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series before the tri-series begins in November as part of their domestic season. This will be the first time since the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup that the two teams will play an ODI match.
This will be Sri Lanka’s first game against Pakistan on their soil since 2019. As per the schedule, the matches are to be played on November 11, 13 and 15 this year. All matches are to be played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan likely to tour Sri Lanka before ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Pakistan has also prepared its plans for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2025. The PCB is already in talks with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board for a 3-match T20I series in January 2026.
Sri Lanka is the official co-host of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in 2026, and Pakistan, as per its pact with the BCCI, can play all its matches in the Sri Lankan islands. Therefore, a visit to Sri Lanka will give them an idea of the conditions in the country.
