The ongoing Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Saga has taken another turn, as Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, has allegedly designed to receive a special gold medal in the recognition of his decisive role during the Trophy controversy in India’s hand of Suryakumar Yadav.
India has not received a medal and trophy despite winning the final against Pakistan in Dubai on 28 September. Naqvi insisted that the champion should collect trophy and medals from him in the ACC office. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) allegedly rejected the request.

India defeated Pakistan by five wickets at the summit. Tilak Verma chased a target of 147 scored an unbeaten half -century, but the players refused to accept the silver pot from Mohsin Naqvi during the match after the match.
Naqvi, who is also the internal minister of Pakistan, insisted on presenting the cup personally despite his openly hostile political attitude towards India. He left with the trophy, leaving the champion without his celebration.
About a week later, India still lives without a trophy. BCCI, angry with the situation, weighing a formal complaint for ICC. Meanwhile, Naqvi told the Indian Board that the only way to claim the trophy is to collect it directly in the ACC office.
Mohsin Naqvi should be awarded a medal amid Asia Cup Trophy controversy
Pakistani media has reported that Mohsin Naqvi will be awarded the martyr Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Excellence Gold Medal in Karachi, which is recognized to deal with the Asia Cup controversy against India.
According to Nation, the medal announced by Karachi Basketball Association Chairman Advocate Ghulam Abbas Jamal will be honored at a high-profile function, where PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is expected to join as the chief guest.
Naqvi opposed Indian demands about the trophy presentation. However, his conduct criticized, as the president of the Asian Cricket Council is expected to remain neutral.
The PCB president was seen openly supporting Pakistan. He instructed the players to boycott their journey for the UAE stability against the match referee Andy Pycroft, which he accused of refusing to shake India’s hands after his struggle.

Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, and Kuldeep Yadav collected their personal honors, but the incident ended without handing over the trophy to the champion. However, Indian players continued their ceremony on the ground even without silver utensils.
At an ACC meeting earlier this week, BCCI representatives Ashish Sheller and Rajiv Shukla pressurized Pakistan Cricket Board President and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi to return the trophy or send them to the ACC headquarters.
Naqvi said that Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav should personally come to gather him. He even posted online to strengthen his attitude, making it clear that he did not apologize for his position.
Earlier in the tournament, India avoided customary handshake after Pahgam Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor with Pakistani players. The enmity between the two sides expanded well beyond the cricket pitch throughout the tournament.
