“No such decision was ever taken by the PCB. It was all social media gossip. There is no such preference or provision,” he confirmed on Saturday afternoon.

It was reported that the PCB management imposed financial sanctions after Pakistan lost the group-stage match against India. Rumors indicated that the board would impose a fine if the team reached the semi-finals of the tournament.

Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan and international commentators including Dinesh Karthik, Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton urged the current players to take a strong stance against the PCB. He criticized the alleged management decision to punish athletes for their results.

The Pakistan national team failed to reach the semi-finals of the fourth consecutive ICC tournament. The Pakistani team advanced to the Super Eight stage but faced difficulties.

Their opening match against New Zealand A was rained out, and they lost the next match to England, leaving them dependent on other group-match results to qualify.

To secure a place in the semi-finals, Pakistan had to defeat Sri Lanka by a margin of at least 65 runs. Captain Salman Ali Aga took the team to 212 runs in the first innings. Despite winning the match by five runs, they were eliminated by a narrow margin.

Sahibzada Farhan produced strong individual performances throughout the campaign. He was the highest run scorer in the entire tournament. The opening batsman broke Virat Kohli’s old record of scoring most runs in a single edition of the global event.

Mike Hesson faced criticism for his final eleven combination. Fans also questioned the tactical decisions taken by captain Salman Ali Aga on the field. Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and experienced batsman Babar Azam failed to make an impact in the tournament.

Following their participation, the PCB received its share of the tournament prize money distributed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The PCB received US$522,692 from the ICC’s final distribution of US$11.25 million in prize money to the tournament players.
