According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has withdrawn its threat to the Asia Cup 2025. The PCB threatened to get out of the ongoing tournament in view of the ‘No Handshek’ controversy during the match between India and Pakistan last week.
The Indian team maintained ‘No Handshek’ stance in the entire match. Captain Suryakumar Yadav did not move his hand in the toss with his counterpart Salman Ali Aga and did the same at the end of the match.

After killing the winning six, Suryakumar and Shivam Dubey along with the opposition players went straight to the dressing room directly without the customary handshake.

After the incident, the PCB responded by filing a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council. He claimed that the match referee Andy Pycroft had instructed the captain not to shake hands at the toss.

The board also threatened to exit the Asia Cup 2025, if Pycroft was not removed by proceeding in the tournament.
Hours after the match ended, PCB President Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), confirmed that a complaint was filed with the ICC as he posted: “PCB filed a complaint with the ICC that has been made by the match referee of the ICC code. Asia Cup.”
Pakistan is unlikely to be pulled out from Asia Cup 2025:
However, Pakistan is unlikely to boycott the remaining of the Asia Cup. Espncricinfo has reported that while the PCB has filed a formal complaint, it has not taken a formal stand to leave the competition despite the ICC’s decision on its petition against Pycroft.
Picroft and Richie Richardson have two match referees in the ongoing tournament. Former Zimbabwe Cricketer is scheduled to reduce two more group stage matches: Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong and Pakistan vs UAE.
Meanwhile, green men are on the verge of elimination of Asia Cup after crushing the loss of 7 wickets at the hands of India.
They will face UAE in their final group game this week. This is a do-or-dai match for both teams. The winner of the match will be included in India in the Super 4s, while the losing team will be out of the competition.
