India-Pakistan struggle crossing border
This latest development comes up against the background of severely stressful Indo-Pak cricketing relations. The bilateral series has been suspended over the years, and the situation intensified after the initiative terrorist attack on April 22, 2025 and later Operation Sindoor. Reducing uncertainty, the Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI), allegedly informed its decision to withdraw from ACC incidents, citing inconvenience with the leadership of ACC under Pakistan’s federal internal minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who also serve as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to several reports, the BCCI has allegedly emphasized “conflict of interest” as the primary justification for their reluctance to participate in the supervision of the tournament by a Pakistani officer. This attitude has put an important shadow on the future of the Asia Cup, especially as India, was determined to host the defending champion, after his major performance in 2023, to host the tournament. While the May 2025 reports indicated BCCI Pulout from all ACC incidents, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia denied such reports, stating that no official decision was taken. It suggests the latest promo, however, a potential change in the story or at least a highly sensitive situation.
