The United States of America (USA) has been forced to make changes to its squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 after fast bowler Jasdeep Singh was ruled out with a shoulder injury. USA cricketers Ali Khan and Shubham Ranjane also got injured during the matches against India, where they lost by 29 runs.
Jasdeep suffered a shoulder injury during the practice match against New Zealand at the DY Patil Stadium on February 5. The 32-year-old fast bowler was unable to bowl a single ball in that game and was later ruled out of USA’s opening T20 World Cup match against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
America has appointed Pakistan-born fast bowler Ehsan Adil in place of Jasdeep Singh.
Former Pakistan cricketer Ehsan Adil has been included in the USA team in place of injured Jasdeep Singh. Adil could make his debut for USA against Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo today (Tuesday, February 10).
“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Event Technical Committee has approved Ehsan Adil as the replacement for Jasdeep Singh in the USA squad. Adil, who has played three Tests and six ODIs for Pakistan but is yet to play for the USA, was named as the replacement after Singh was ruled out due to a right shoulder injury sustained during the warm-up game against New Zealand on February 5,” the ICC said in a release.
Rushil Ugarkar to join USA team after injuries to Ali Khan and Shubham Ranjane
The United States is battling several injury concerns during the T20 World Cup. Ali Khan and Shubham Ranjane were injured while playing against India.
Ali Khan got injured while fielding, while Ranjane got injured during his over. He managed to complete two overs each before leaving the field and playing the match with Pakistan remains in doubt. According to Times of India journalist Pratyush Raj, Rushil Ugarkar is scheduled to join the team by February 10.

Pakistan eyes momentum as US looks to make a comeback
Pakistan will enter the contest after defeating Netherlands, where Faheem Ashraf snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Meanwhile, the United States are still searching for their first points after losing to India as Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive batting dashed hopes of an upset.
With less than 72 hours to recover after traveling from Mumbai, conditions could test the United States, especially with Ali Khan and Shubham Ranjane struggling with injuries. However, options like Shadley van Schalkwyk, Mohammad Mohsin and Harmeet Singh can still provide balance to the team.
Pakistan had also lost to the United States in the previous edition of the tournament in 2024. Despite their strong bowling and fielding, there remain concerns about the fragile middle order. If early wickets fall, the United States could once again expose familiar weaknesses.
