PCB Snowles World Club Championship 2026 meeting
A few days ago, it was reported by the cricketer that the World Club Championship, the long -discovered Champions League T20 successor, is scheduled to begin in 2026.
It was mentioned that the tournament will facilitate Champion teams from major T20 League in the world including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, hundred, ILT20, Major League Cricket (MLC), and Carriage Premier League (CPL).
The competition has received good support from ICC President J Shah, Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) did not send the CEO of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) or any other officer at a meeting in London last month, and the PSL champion is unlikely to receive an invitation for the global competition.
The source quoted PTI as saying, “Pakistan Cricket Board was invited to send his CEO of PSL for a meeting held in London last month, but no one showed it.”
The major T20 League CEOs attend the meeting, no IPL participation is confirmed.
The source said the ILT20, Big Bash League (BBL), Sau, SA20, Major League Cricket (MLC) and other league CEOs were part of the meeting, organized by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and discussed fixed windows for the availability of their tournament and overseas players.
“The proposed World Club Championship, its window, format, schedule, etc. were discussed () Emirates League CEO, Big Bash League, hundred, SA20, MLC, Caribbean Premier League, etc., attended the meeting. Pakistan was also invited,” said the source.
In addition, the source revealed that no IPL team would participate in the 2026 edition of the event despite the support of BCCI, and five teams would be involved in the tournament.
“Although the Indian Board has support in the planned program, for the inaugural championship, there will be no IPL participation,” he said.
Pakistan’s Mohsin Naqvi has also not regularly participated in ICC meetings – sources
According to this report, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has refrained from regular participation in ICC meetings as J Shah has taken over as a global body.
He said, “PCB did not show and strangely president Mohsin Naqvi also does not regularly participate in ICC meetings,” he further said.
In particular, J Shah began his term on 1 December as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), after being unanimously elected to the role.
Coming back to the World Club Championship, the competition is being rapidly tracked by BCCI, ECB and other boards to derail the Saudi Cricket League plans, which is likely to get $ 400 million money from private investors for the commission.
