Pakistan announced another series with Bangladesh after being humiliated

Bangladesh is likely to compete in the T20 Tri-Nation series in February 2026 with Australia and Pakistan as two teams. A source of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed that the talks have taken place between the authorities, but no official confirmation has yet been done.

Australia is already set to visit Pakistan for the three -match T20I series in February 2026. However, both Cricket Australia (CA) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are now discussing the idea of expansion of the three-match T20I series in the T20 TRAI series with Bangladesh.

Bangladesh in talks for T20 tri-series with Australia, Pakistan

The reason behind the idea of Cricket Australia (CA) and PCB is that all three teams ahead of the next year’s ICC T20 World Cup 2026 -Australia, Bangladesh, and Pakistan -Gunavatta match exercises, which will be jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka in February and March.

Cricket Australia always plays it smart when the ICC event is determined in the subcontinent, scheduling series with teams. Back in 2021, Australia played a T20I series in Bangladesh before the ICC World Cup 2023 in India and visited Sri Lanka before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

After the pattern, CA is not planning to go a step ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 this time, as they are considering explaining the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as Pakistan or Bangladesh for the T20 T20-Nation series.

Pakistan is allegedly eager to include Bangladesh, especially after recent reforms in relations between PCB and BCB. Although no formal proposal has been made by Pakistan yet, initial discussion is going on between the cricket boards.

PCB President and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi is currently in Bangladesh for the annual general meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on July 24-25 in Dhaka. NAQVI is expected to meet BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul on the occasion of the meeting to find out the possibility of organizing the T20 T20-nation series between Pakistan, Bangladesh and Australia.

If finalized, the T20 tri-nation series will have seven matches with each team with seven matches, which are facing the other twice, followed by a final between the top two sides. The final schedule and places will be decided that the three boards will reach an agreement.

Bangladesh I T20 TRAI-series boost; Afghanistan is ready to approve PCB’s plans

Well, the window of August will be free after the ongoing white-ball series against Pakistan at home near Bangladesh, as India’s planned tour has been pushed by September 2026.

With the Asia Cup being near 2025, BCB officials allegedly felt the proposed T20 T20-nation series with Pakistan and Australia that the ICC could give a very important boost ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.

Additionally, there are plans to change the upcoming T20i series of Pakistan against Afghanistan by adding UAE as a third team and host in the T20 Tri-Nation series, to change the upcoming T20I series of Pavistan.

Originally, Pakistan was set to host Afghanistan for three T20I in August. But now, PCB has suggested more competitive format for better preparation for the Asia Cup 2025 and ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
