Team India captain and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was disappointed after the Decision Review System (DRS) decision went in favor of South African all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy. The incident occurred on the second day of the match (Sunday, November 23) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

South Africa ended the first day with 247 for 6, with Senuran Muthusamy (25) and Kyle Verreon (1) present at stumps. Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler for India on the day, taking 3 for 48 in 17 overs, while Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

“Not even the batsman knows” – Rishabh Pant angry at the third umpire

Overnight pair Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreen did not provide any success to India in the entire first session of the second day. The only chance came when Ravindra Jadeja trapped Muthusamy in front of the stumps and umpire Rod Tucker raised his finger.

However, Muthusamy made a quick review, and as the ball passed his glove, the UltraEdge showed a slight spike. Third umpire Chris Gaffney overturned the on-field call, allowing the left-hander to continue his innings.

The Indians were clearly unhappy with the upset, with Rishabh Pant expressing his disappointment at the DRS result. Before the intermission, South Africa did not allow India to take any wicket.

This is a game of first innings – big statement of former Indian batsman

Former India opener Aakash Chopra said that the outcome of the match will depend on the performance of the first innings. He said that South Africa’s decision to include Senuran Muthusamy could also become an important factor in the match.

“Looking at this pitch, I think it’s a first-innings game – how well South Africa play and how well we respond to it,” Chopra said. South Africa have included left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy in their playing eleven.

He further added, “They will bowl last, so I think Muthusamy will have a role to play. The batting of the first innings will be very important and India will also have to account for the fading light conditions in the game to win.”
