While a section of Pakistan is supporting its government’s decision to boycott the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 group stage match, former cricketer Aakash Chopra explained the matter in his own way, which will probably be enough to shut the mouths of many.
On Sunday, the Pakistan government informed that they are against the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match, which is scheduled to be played on February 15 in Colombo. Sarkar said that they are going to play the tournament, but not against India.

The Pakistan government wrote on its ‘X’ post, “The Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has approved the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026. However, the Pakistan cricket team will not take the field in the match against India on 15 February 2026.”
As soon as this news came out, it flooded social media platforms. A large section of Pakistani fans are supporting the decision of boycott and claiming that it is a courageous decision. Former India opener Aakash Chopra offered him a reality check through a reply on social media platform ‘X’.

It is noteworthy that the call for boycott has been made by the Government of Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet formally announced its decision to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Today is 2nd February and T20 World Cup 2026 will start from 7th February. Since there is very little time left before the tournament, the PCB will have to take a final decision in a hurry.
Pakistan may fall into a deep well of troubles!
According to the latest reports, the PCB has not yet sent a formal letter to the ICC, although the ICC has already warned that a boycott could lead to a series of punishments that will ultimately harm Pakistani cricket.
Media reports further stated that the ICC not only questioned the Pakistan government’s decision, but also urged the PCB to consider the “significant and long-term implications for cricket in its country”, as a boycott stance could drag the Pakistan Cricket Board into a whole series of troubles.
If Pakistan does not change its approach, it is possible that there could be consequences ranging from revenue loss to their reputation as a cricket playing nation. Even ICC may sanction some strict action regarding Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will definitely have a negative impact on the country’s economy.
