Former Australia captain Michael Clarke described star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as the most important person in the world. Clarke’s statement on Bumrah has come before IPL 2026.
During his podcast, the former cricketer praised Jasprit Bumrah a lot. For them, he is the ‘greatest of all time’ in modern cricket. While cricket fans often debate whether Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma is the GOAT, Clarke thinks differently.
Virat Kohli was on top when RCB won their first IPL trophy in 2025
The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League is expected to begin later this month after the conclusion of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. In IPL 2026, Jasprit Bumrah will again be in action for Mumbai Indians (MI).
Among all the franchise cricket leagues, IPL holds the top position in many aspects such as revenue and level of competition.
Last season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) claimed their first league trophy with Virat Kohli as the central member of the team. After breaking so many records in international cricket, the IPL trophy with RCB was like a cherry on top of a beautifully decorated cake. For many cricket fans and experts, Virat Kohli is the GOAT.
Michael Clarke declared India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah the best in the world in all three formats.
Speaking to ‘Beyond23CricketPod’ Michael Clarke said, “Bumrah, he is just a freak. In all three formats. He is the most important player in the world in all three formats.”
The topic of the video or podcast was mainly about the T20 World Cup 2026 final, where India will take on New Zealand on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The defending champions of the tournament, the Men in Blue, qualified for the final after defeating England by 7 runs in Mumbai.
It was quite natural, since the discussion was about the upcoming India vs New Zealand match, Bumrah’s name spontaneously came up. In the semi-finals, he took the important wicket of England captain Harry Brook. After the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav praised the fast bowler for his consistent bowling performance.
Notable bowling statistics of Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian Premier League
If we talk briefly about the fast bowler’s IPL career, it will become clear why Michael Clarke issued such a big statement for the Indian seamer.
After making his IPL debut in 2013, the fast bowler has played 145 matches so far, taking 183 wickets with an overall economy rate of 7.24. In 2025, the speedster took 18 wickets in 12 matches. IPL 2020-21 was the best season for him. In that campaign, he took 27 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of just 6.73.
There were a lot of concerns regarding Bumrah’s workload management in recent times. He also had to miss some matches due to frequent matches and injury concerns. But now, he is running like a well-oiled machine.
