Prabhsimran Singh thanked Punjab Kings (PBKS) head coach Ricky Ponting and former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for being selected for India’s T20 team. The PBKS and India A team opener has been selected for India’s overseas T20 series against Zimbabwe.
For the Zimbabwe tour, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has selected a group of experienced players and emerging players across all departments of the team.

Ricky Ponting and Yuvraj Singh helped Prabhsimran Singh from behind
The inclusion of Prabhsimran Singh was a surprise move by the selectors. In an exclusive video given to news agency PTI, the top-order batsman revealed how Ponting and Yuvraj have been with him on this journey.
He stressed that without the support of PBKS head coach and World Cup-winning former Indian cricketer, he would not have been able to make it to the national cricket team.
While Ricky Ponting and Yuvraj Singh are from different countries, Prabhasimran observed that the mindset of these two former cricketers is almost similar, as both Ponting and Yuvraj can only think about the best possible situation.

“They are different personalities, but their thinking is very similar. Ricky (Ponting) sir, after retaining me, said that he would make me even better as the player I am. When you start seeing the results, you realize he meant every word,” Prabhasimran told PTI.
Yuvraj Singh advised Prabhsimran Singh to think in advance
The batsman said that Yuvraj Singh always asked him to think one step ahead while preparing in the nets. The 24-year-old player further revealed that whenever he got some extra time, he would go for batting sessions with his mentor and teacher Yuvraj Singh.
“Yuvraj (Singh) paaji always says that you have to practice one step ahead of everyone else. Whenever I get time, I love working with him and learning something new. Both of them have helped me a lot to reach this level,” he said.
Prabhasimran also revealed that as soon as he learned that he had been named in India’s T20 squad for the Zimbabwe series, he called Yuvraj.
He further added, “I told him that what we were discussing has finally become reality. He was very happy and shared his experiences about international cricket, even small things that could help me.”

It is well known that Yuvraj Singh has been actively working with many young Indian talents for the last few years. Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill and Priyansh Arya are among those who trained under the guidance of the former Indian star.
Another Punjab Kings cricketer Suryansh Shedge made his debut for Team India.
Another notable thing is that ever since Shreyas Iyer has been appointed as the India captain, two players from Punjab Kings have been named in the national team. After Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh is set to join the team for the upcoming T20Is.
Suryansh Shedge made his India debut during India’s 2-match series against Ireland in Belfast. However, he has not been able to impress the team management with his all-round performances yet.
