Not Rishabh Pant or Kane Williamson! Tom Moody becomes the most powerful man of Lucknow Super Giants

In a massive change of guard at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), former Australia national cricket team player Tom Moody is set to be appointed as the global director of cricket of the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise.

This massive development will make Tom Moody the most powerful man and will take charge of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Durban Super Giants (DSG) and Manchester Originals, which is highly likely to be renamed Manchester Super Giants.

Tom Moody ready to join Lucknow Supergiants

IPL-winning head coach Tom Moody has been handling the Indian Premier League (IPL) broadcast duties for some time now, but now he is back on the coaching staff once again.

He has a wealth of coaching experience and recently led the Oval Invincibles to their third consecutive win in The Hundred. Not just the 100-ball competition, he was also involved in the ILT20 and helped Desert Vipers finish as runners-up in 2023 and 2025.

Given Moody’s success, Oval Invincibles were keen to retain Tom Moody, but he decided to accept the offer made by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

“It is understood that Mumbai Indians owners Surrey and Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), which bought a 49% stake in Invincibles earlier this year, were keen to retain Moody. However, it is understood that Moody opted to take the LSG offer as it would have given him a bigger role,” ESPN Cricinfo reported.

How long will Tom Moody stay at LSG?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are considered to be one of the unstable franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they have made a lot of changes in the coaching staff and the team.

Recently, the legendary Zaheer Khan, who was appointed as the mentor of the franchise last season, parted ways with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a shocking development. Moody will replace Zaheer Khan in the setup.

Meanwhile, according to ESPN Cricinfo, the tenure for which Tom Moody and Lucknow Super Giants have signed the contract has not been disclosed yet and will be made public with the official announcement.

Kane Williamson joins Lucknow Super Giants

Earlier, Kane Williamson, who is representing Durban Super Giants in the SA20, was appointed as a strategic advisor to LSG ahead of IPL 2026.

Along with Kane Williamson, the franchise welcomed Karl Crowe as the spin-bowling coach. He also confirmed that Justin Langer will remain as head coach and Bharat Arun will continue in his role as fast bowling coach.

LSG is one of the newest franchises of the Indian Premier League and they have had a poor performance in IPL 2022 and 2023 after making the playoffs.
