The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is still a few months away, but India national cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav is already dreaming of an epic rematch with Australia in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India had to face a heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the same venue – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now Suryakumar Yadav wants to memorialize this heartbreaking memory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Suryakumar’s dream is to defeat Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium
Suryakumar Yadav was part of the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team that won 10 consecutive matches before losing to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Since that defeat on November 19, 2023, India have defeated Australia twice – first in a Super Eight match of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup and later in the semi-finals of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

When asked which team he would like to face in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, Suryakumar Yadav openly expressed his desire to face Australia in Ahmedabad as it would be the perfect opportunity to settle the score.
