Paper Ansul Kamboj of Haryana has been called as an injury cover for Arshdeep Singh and Akash deep in the India squad before the fourth Test against England. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin praised the young fast bowler and obtained similarities with Jasprit Bumrah and Zaheer Khan.
The team led by Shubman Gill is 2–1 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with just two matches left, and injuries have affected their speed attack. Akash Deep is struggling with a waist issue, Arshdeep Singh has been dropped, and Nitish Reddy is also unavailable for the remaining of the series.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who worked with Ansul Kamboj in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025, said that the young Pesar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Sirraj, would attack a combat bowling.

Ansul Kambaj is a strong contender for a place for the fourth Test in an XI in India, after injuries to lead pacers Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. The Haryana fast bowler was added to the squad as a cover of injury.
Kamboj played against England Lions before the main series for India. He took one wicket and scored 23 runs in the first informal Test, but had a big impact in the second match with four wickets and 51 in the second innings.
The 24-year-old has also left an impression in domestic cricket, taking 79 wickets in 24 first-class matches, including 22.88 on an average, including two five-wickets. During the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, he became only the third player in the history of the tournament to take all 10 wickets in the same innings.
