South African captain Aiden Markram is all set to take over as the captain of Manchester Super Giants in the Men’s Hundred competition. He will be seen in a new role for a non-South African franchise for the first time.
The acquisition of The Hundred teams from the IPL by Indian owners has brought about widespread and significant changes to the overall dynamics of the competition. Many big names from around the world have made it into the Hundred, with a huge amount of surplus money being used in the tournament’s first auction.
The new Indian franchises, owned by Sunrisers Supergiants and owners of Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, will be re-branded and will be seen leading from the front with their new captains.
Aiden Markram will lead the Manchester Super Giants team
South African captain Aiden Markram will lead the Manchester Super Giants in the Men’s Hundred this year. Markram was one of the most expensive foreign signings in the auction. He will now be with Lucknow Super Giants, Durban Super Giants and also the new Super Giants franchise.
“It’s great to have him in three of our teams: a fantastic player, an excellent human being and also real captaincy material,” Langer said. “That’s an aspect of his game we like, his leadership.”
Justin Langer had earlier said that he is the number one priority in the team and he can go to any extent to bring him into the team. Markram led South Africa by example and batted brilliantly in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Aiden Markram is set to captain the Manchester Super Giants in the men’s Hundred this year, while Daniel Vettori is still hoping to convince Harry Brook to lead Sunrisers Leeds.

Daniel Vettori aims to convince Harry Brook to lead Sunrisers Leeds
England white-ball captain Harry Brook has been cited as a leader in the Sunrisers Leeds side, as he captained the Northern Superchargers under Andrew Flintoff in the last two seasons.
“I think he likes the team, so maybe we can twist his arm and get him there. We’ll just wait and see,” said Sunrisers coach Daniel Vettori, who has been pursuing Brook to lead the Superchargers team.
Vettori said, “We understand Harry’s commitments and how well-rounded he is.” “He will come [into the Hundred] Also on the back of a Test series and a white ball series. He will be able to join us only a day or two before the start [first] game.”
He also said that there will be talks and the likes of Mitch Marsh, Dan Lawrence and Jack Crawley have all got captaincy experience.
Three captains for Men’s Hundred 2026 confirmed
Even before the auction, many captains have chosen the Men’s Hundred. Phil Salt will be seen captaining the Welsh Fire team in the Men’s Hundred competition, while young Jacob Bethell will be seen as a young leader for the Birmingham Phoenix team.
Experienced left-handed all-rounder Sam Curran has captained them on several occasions. He will be the leader of the MI London side, a new franchise rebranded from Oval Invincibles.
While Sam Billings could be the best possible choice for captaincy for Trent Rockets, Liam Livingstone and David Willey would be the best choices for the captaincy role for London Spirit. For Southern Brave, Tristan Stubbs and Marcus Stoinis could be the choices for the leaders.
