The ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) is in full swing, and former Indian batsman and cricket pundit Manoj Tiwary has decided to add some spice with his bold but shocking choice.
In fact, during an interesting segment on Cricbuzz’s Winners Stay On, Manoj Tiwary was asked to reveal the lowest-rated player in IPL history, and he surprised everyone with his completely different choice. He chose an Indian star, ignoring stalwarts like Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Yusuf Pathan or even Jacques Kallis.
Wriddhiman Saha beats Shaun Marsh and Yusuf Pathan in Manoj Tiwari’s elite pick
The new ‘Winners Stay On’ round started with Shaun Marsh vs Wriddhiman Saha question. Without any hesitation, Tiwari supported Saha. Australian star Marsh played 71 matches, where he scored 2477 runs at a strike rate of 132.74. Saha, on the other hand, has 2934 runs and 119 dismissals (93 catches, 26 stumpings) in 170 IPL matches.

Then Rajat Bhatia’s name came up and once again, Tiwary chose Saha over the former all-rounder, who has 342 runs in 49 innings and 71 wickets in 91 matches. Even Yusuf Pathan, one of the most impressive all-rounders in the IPL, was overlooked by the Bengal minister for Saha.
In the league, Pathan has 3204 runs in 154 innings and 42 wickets in 82 matches. He won titles with Rajasthan Royals in 2008 and Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and again in 2014. Even the former Indian World Cup winner held the record for the fastest half-century (15 balls) for many years.
Sandeep Sharma was chosen as the lowest rated player of IPL.
But when Sandeep Sharma’s name came up in the competition, Manoj Tiwari did not change his mind until the final name came during the segment. Without thinking anything, the cricket pundit removed Saha and chose Sandeep in his place. Sandeep is known for his swing bowling and powerplay heroics.
The Indian star has so far played 140 matches for teams like Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (44). Sandeep, playing for RR in IPL 2026, has so far taken 149 wickets at an average of 27.87 and an economy rate of 8.05.
Well, Jacques Kallis, who is considered the complete package and one of the greatest all-rounders of all time, but still, Tiwary surprisingly went with Sandeep Sharma in place of the Proteas legend.

Manoj Tiwari ignored players like Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu and Jacques Kallis for Sandeep Sharma
Not just Kallis, who finished his IPL career with 2,427 runs and 65 wickets in 98 matches, Tiwary overlooked some big names like Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Manish Pandey, Mitchell McClenaghan, Chris Lynn, Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Shikhar Dhawan, Krunal Pandya, Albie Morkel, Ambati Rayudu and James Faulkner.
After all, Tiwary has backed Sandeep Sharma to be the lowest-rated player in IPL history during the rapid-fire rounds. His decision to ignore these stars for Sandeep surprised many. In the current season, only Sandeep, Manish and Pandya are playing for different teams.
