CSK is keenly looking for a wicketkeeper batsman, but whenever it tried to seal a deal, it met with failure. Players like Sanju Samson may be on their books, but they would love to have a wicketkeeper batsman who is capable of hitting boundaries for long periods of time lower down the order.

It appears that Chennai Super Kings is rebuilding their team and looking for some new players in the team. Although nothing has been confirmed about the players who may be released, it seems that they may part ways with Devon Conway as well as some of the more overseas players from their camp.

CSK lacked some batting skills, especially towards the end of the matches when the team needed decisive finishes, which used to be MS Dhoni’s job for them all these years. The veteran is 44 years old, and CSK are yet to find a replacement for the role.

CSK is looking for a key wicketkeeper batsman

Chennai Super Kings is attempting to have a renowned Indian wicketkeeping face in the squad and has focused on options like Sanju Samson, KL Rahul and now Ishan Kishan. The deal with Rahul seems like a no-brainer, while Samson will find it difficult to fit into CSK’s batting line-up; Therefore, the only possible option seems to be Ishan Kishan.

There is no doubt that Kishan is a very promising batsman in the top order as well as the middle order and can be the solution to CSK’s first-down problems. He is also likely to be released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, but there is no official confirmation on CSK going for him.

MS Dhoni will not be apart from the Chennai Super Kings team for the upcoming season of IPL. The veteran will turn 45 next year and is not far from becoming the oldest player in the history of IPL.

Dewald Brevis was sidelined; Indian batsman will play finishing role for CSK

Former Mumbai Indians pacer Dewald Brewis was included in the CSK squad midway through the last edition, and he seems to have enjoyed his outing at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Dewald Brevis single-handedly took charge of CSK’s lower-order batting.

Dewald Brevis scored 200+ runs with several half-centuries and a strike rate of around 180. However, CSK will have to look for options to support Dewald Brevis lower down the order. That’s why they have selected Urvil Patel as one of those players.

Rohit Juglan pointed out that Urvil Patel, who is a quality player at the top of the order, is known for his long lever and can be transformed into a finisher. He was seen with MS Dhoni in the CSK camp several times during the last season.

CSK is grooming a strong group of young players

Chennai Super Kings have started building a strong core of young cricketers for the future. Now they have youngsters like Rachin Ravindra, 17-year-old star Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, Dewald Brewis and Afghan spinner Noor Ahmed.

They are reported to be in talks with rising talents Sonu Yadav and Mohammad Ali, both Indian domestic cricketers. Sonu Yadav is a young off-spinner who can also bat lower down the order and could be a long-term prospect for CSK. He was a part of RCB last season.
