Which team can cross the 300-run mark in an innings in the upcoming IPL 2026? This has been a constant debate among cricket fans since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2026.
The ICC showcase tournament, which was held in India and Sri Lanka, featured several high-scoring matches across various venues. So, it is quite possible to say the same in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Ahead of the tournament, former India cricketers Sanjay Bangar and Irfan Pathan have named three teams that have the ability to score runs in a single innings. Among his varied predictions, one name was common – Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Irfan Pathan picks three teams including Mumbai Indians as favorites to put 300 on the board
During a Star Sports show, the host asked Sanjay Bangar and Irfan Pathan to personally choose three teams that could create history by scoring three hundred runs. But, is it really possible to score three centuries in an innings of 20 overs?
Pathan believes that this is possible if the pitch supports the batsmen a lot. For example, he mentioned the second semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2026, where India scored 253 runs and England scored 246 runs respectively in their innings, which was a total of 499 runs.
“If the pitch works like the Wankhede Stadium wicket then it is possible to score 300 runs. I was absolutely shocked to see the total of 500 runs in the semi-finals. So, if the pitches are prepared like that, we can see 300 runs in an innings in IPL 2026,” Irfan Pathan said.
Pathan said that SRH, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have the ability to score huge amounts of runs. He chose MI mostly because of the Wankhede Stadium.
Sanjay Bangar surprisingly names Kolkata Knight Riders in controversy
Sanjay Bangar, on the other hand, believes that despite many high-scoring matches in the past, breaking the 300-run mark is still not possible. He picked SRH, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as contenders to score 300 runs.
KKR was a surprise selection. Bangar pointed out that KKR may be lacking in the bowling department, but their batting department has tremendous firepower through foreign recruitments.
KKR is a strong contender to score 300 runs in IPL
“It will be interesting to see which four they choose as their overseas players. We look at Finn Allen, who is a tremendous six-ball player. Tim Seifert, Rovman Powell and Cameron Green are all capable of knocking the ball around the park.

Sunil Narine is in the team. They lack quality in bowling, but their batting looks quite powerful,” Sanjay Bangar explained on why he picked KKR as contenders.
