The 2024 IPL champions are eyeing Delhi Capitals batsman KL Rahul for a trade deal ahead of the mini-auction as they look for a top-order batsman and a captain for the upcoming season. Instead, they will now be looking for Cameron Green in the mini-auction.
Although Delhi Capitals bought KL Rahul in the IPL 2025 mega-auction, they have shown interest in letting him go but have demanded a massive amount of players from other franchises in exchange for the Indian wicketkeeper batsman.
KL Rahul was the highest run-scorer for Delhi Capitals last season. He scored 500+ runs in the season and also scored a century with a staggering run rate. He played various positions in the batting order.
Abhishek Nair’s appointment gives KKR hope on KL Rahul trade
Kolkata Knight Riders had targeted Indian wicketkeeper and opening batsman KL Rahul from the Delhi Capitals camp. He can solve the starting problems for KKR, which were prevalent last season after parting ways with Phil Salt.
Neither Sunil Narine, Quinton de Kock nor Rahmanullah Gurbaz could perform for them at the top of the order. Apart from this, he can also be a leadership option for the KKR team as Ajinkya Rahane could not perform much.
KL Rahul shares a very good relationship with the currently appointed KKR head coach Abhishek Nair. Nair had earlier contributed significantly to Rahul’s development into a great white-ball batsman.
Delhi Capitals wanted two players in exchange for Rahul trade
According to the latest report by TOI reporter Sahil Malhotra, Kolkata Knight Riders were reportedly interested in two KKR players Varun Chakravarthy and Rinku Singh. However, both players are not expected to be part of any trade deal for Delhi Capitals.
Knight Riders were ready to offer experienced all-rounder Andre Russell in exchange for KL Rahul, but Delhi Capitals turned down such an offer and only showed interest in spinner Varun Chakravarthy and finisher Rinku Singh.
KKR was willing to let go of Andre Russell to bring in KL Rahul, but DC were more interested in Varun Chakravarthy and Rinku Singh. However, both of those players are not expected to be part of any trade deal.

Kolkata Knight Riders eye Cameron Green in IPL mini-auction
With KKR falling through in their trade deal involving several players and leaving them with nothing till the mini-auction to be held between December 13 and 15, they may look to place an eye on the best player to bid in the mini-auction.
Australian all-rounder Cameron Green could not play the last season of IPL due to injury and will make a comeback this season. His return to international T20 came with consecutive half-centuries.
Cameron Green can be a one-stop solution to KKR’s top-order problems. Green is a top-order batsman and a quality bowler for them in the middle stage. KKR lacks players who can play big innings by staying at the crease for a long time.
KKR failed to secure a trade deal as their team resources were not accepted by other franchises!!..
