Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, shifted from Mumbai Indians (MI) to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in search of more opportunities on the field. During a recent interaction, the seam bowling all-rounder expressed his disappointment at getting a very limited number of matches with MI.

The 26-year-old made the switch ahead of IPL 2026 and is expected to get more match time for the Lucknow-based franchise compared to his stint with Mumbai Indians.

Arjun Tendulkar had very few chances for Mumbai Indians

For the 5-time IPL winning team, Arjun Tendulkar got a chance to play in only five matches after joining the team in 2021. He remained there until 2025 before considering a switch. From 2021 to 2025, he played only 5 matches for MI.

In those 5 matches, the southpaw took 3 wickets at an economy rate of 9.36. During the conversation, Arjun strongly claimed that he deserves to play more because he is doing well in rotating the ball. But, since he got very inadequate chances, he had no option but to move on.

“You played a few matches for Mumbai Indians (MI) and bowled well. Your swing was good, so did you feel you should have got more chances?” While talking in an interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Arjun Tendulkar was asked a question.

He replied, “Who doesn’t feel that way? Nobody wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get the chance.”

Arjun Tendulkar strongly criticizes the controversial impact player rule in IPL

During the interview, the budding cricketer was vocal against the controversial impact player rule, which is only seen in the Indian Premier League. Like many international cricketers, Arjun also believes that this rule is not suitable for the game, where at the international level it is still 11 vs 11 contests. Without saying much, the cricketer simply said that he is against the impact player rule.

Arjun Tendulkar said, “Pick 11 and play. Because in international T20 and any other league, there is no impact player. So, I am personally against the impact player rule.”

We have a golden opportunity to perform well: Arjun

For the IPL 2026 season, Lucknow Super Giants is loaded with many world-class batsmen. However, their bowling and lower middle order look weak. But Arjun feels that the team is evenly matched in all departments and has a great chance to do well in the current season.

“Our middle-order is also very powerful. T20 is a game where anyone can beat anyone, so I think we have a golden chance to do well in this tournament,” Arjun said.

Lucknow Super Giants is all set to start their IPL 2026 campaign at their home ground Ekana Stadium from today. For their first match, they will have to face the formidable Delhi Capitals, before facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next match.
