Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green has clarified the confusion regarding his listing as a batsman for the IPL 2026 mini-auction to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Green stated that he would contribute with both bat and ball in the upcoming season, adding that this was his manager’s mistake.
The 26-year-old missed the last IPL season while recovering from back surgery. He returned to competitive cricket as a batsman in June. Medical clearance later allowed him to resume bowling in international cricket. He has been contributing across both disciplines for Australia during the current Ashes series.
My manager accidentally selected the wrong box – Cameron Green issues clarification
Cameron Green said that his manager had listed him for the IPL auction only as a batsman. Green assured that he is fully fit to bowl in IPL 2026, adding that he had clicked on the wrong option by mistake. He clarified that teams can expect his complete all-rounder skill set.
“I’ll be bowling well,” Green said ahead of Australia’s training session in Adelaide on the morning of 14 December. “I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a glitch on his part. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was very funny how it all happened, but really it was a glitch on his part.”

Cameron Green’s price rising ahead of IPL 2026 auction
Cameron Green has already shown his talent in IPL. He made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2023, scoring over 450 runs including a century and taking a few wickets. He moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) the next year and again added useful runs and wickets.
Green is one of the most talked about players for the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Several teams are expected to bid for him and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) look to be the favorites as they have the biggest purse after releasing Andre Russell.
This all-rounder cannot earn more than Rs 18 crore. A new rule states that any amount exceeding Rs 18 crore will not go to the player, but will be kept by the BCCI for the welfare and development of the player.
