Team India batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to perform well with the bat in the first ODI of the three-match series against South Africa at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday, November 30. Fans were angry as the batsman failed to score in his comeback game for the national cricket team in ODI cricket.
India were without Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer for the ongoing ODI series. Ruturaj was included in the playing eleven before players like Rishabh Pant and Tilak Verma. The right-handed batsman impressed with his batting in the recent ODI matches against South Africa A and earned the Player of the Series award.
Ruturaj Gaikwad came to the crease after Rohit Sharma was out.
After losing the toss, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to the crease. Jaiswal managed to score 18 runs in 16 balls before being dismissed by Nandre Berger. After getting out early, Rohit and Virat Kohli added 136 runs for the second wicket. Both of them attacked the bowlers and completed their half-centuries.
However, Marco Johnson brought success to his team by dismissing Rohit. The left arm fast bowler trapped the opening batsman in front of the stumps. Rohit scored 57 runs in 51 balls with the help of five fours and three fours. Ruturaj Gaikwad came to the crease at number 4 for the first time in his ODI career.
Ruturaj Gaikwad comes with great expectations but fades away soon
Ruturaj Gaikwad arrived with a lot of expectations after a strong performance by India A, but his stay at the crease was brief. The right-handed batsman could not take advantage of the opportunities or score big in his comeback game.
Gaikwad played a drive on Otniel Baartman’s ball outside off. After this, Dewald Brevis surprised everyone by taking an incredible catch with one hand at backward point. Brewis dived to his right and snatched the ball out of the air, causing a gasp from the crowd.
Gaikwad went back disappointed. The Maharashtra batsman scored 8 runs in 14 balls before going to the dressing room. Given the competition for every spot, he is unlikely to last long in the Indian system.

Ruturaj scores 8(14). His strike rate is 57 while his team’s strike rate is 115.
What was the point of selecting Ruturaj in the team before Sai Sudarshan?
What was the point of selecting Ruturaj in the eleven before Rishabh Pant?
Actually the selection and planning done by India is very stupid
