Not Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been identified as the “most frustrated team” to steal star wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Former India national cricket team started batsman Akash Chopra, which requires an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman and possibly a captain, both roles that can fill Sanju Samson.

Sanju Samson requested Rajasthan Royals for his release
Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Samson has asked Rajasthan Royals (RR) for his release due to ‘serious differences’ with Rajasthan Royals (RR) management.
Several media outlets have reported that Samson is now not interested in continuing with Rajasthan Royals (RR), despite maintaining the inauguration of INR 18 crore for Rs 18 crore from 2025 mega auction.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Akash Chopra highlighted that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have Quinton de Kock and Rehmanullah Gurbaz, who are in the squad as a wicketkeeper-batsman and will be desperate for rope in Samson.
Akash Chopra said that Kolkata Knight Riders can release expensive Venkatesh Iyer to spend on Sanju Samson. He said:
“The first name that comes to my mind is not CSK. KKR should be the most desperate team. KKR does not have an Indian wicketkeeper-bitter, and it just adds his hands behind his back. The second thing is what is wrong if you get a captain?
“However, Ajinkya Rahane as a batsman, either opens or batting order is a little problem. He has a player that he can also release. If he wants, he can leave Venkatesh Iyer, free ₹ 24 crore, and then he can really make a difference.”
Vaibhav Suryavanshi responsible for the unhappiness of Samson?
Akash Chopra further estimated that the presence of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jiswal as an opener could be one of the reasons behind the dissatisfaction of Samson, as the IPL 2025 mega ahead of the auction, Rajasthan Royals (RR) released Jose Butler to build a room for skippers. He said:
“Why do Sanju Samson want to leave? It is interesting because when the last mega auction took place, he let Jose Butler go, and I felt that he let Jose Butler go because Yashasvi came and wanted to open Sanju, and Sanju and Rajasthan Royals were really obese.”
