Nita Ambani left disappointed and sad after MI’s defeat to SRH in IPL 2026

On Wednesday, April 29, in the packed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the huge target of 244 runs in 19 overs in the IPL 2026 match, which left Mumbai Indians owners Akash Ambani and Nita Ambani stunned.

Mumbai Indians (MI) looked set for a big win but by the end of the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) disappointed the home side with a massive six-wicket win at the Wankhede Stadium. Nita Ambani’s reaction after the crushing defeat said it all.

Ambani left stunned by SRH’s spectacular chase

After deciding to bat first, the MI team ultimately performed well with the bat. Ryan Rickelton played a brilliant inning of 123 not out off 55 balls to help the home team post 243 runs on the board against SRH. Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani were enjoying this moment very much.

But the second innings proved to be completely disastrous for the team and its owner. Sunrisers Hyderabad came with full aggressive mentality. SRH openers, Travis Head (76 off 30 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (45 off 24 balls) played explosive innings to put MI on the backfoot right from the start of the second innings.

As Salil Arora (30* off 10 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (65* off 30 balls) finished the game for SRH, the cameras flashed the Mumbai Indians camp at the Wankhede Stadium again.

Akash Ambani and even Rohit Sharma looked in complete shock while Nita Ambani had tears in her eyes as MI suffered their sixth defeat of the season. After seeing the collapse of MI under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, she could not control her emotions and started crying inside the stadium.

The MI boss was also seen looking disappointed as she accompanied her daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant in her car outside the Wankhede Stadium.

Kieron Pollard refuses to give up on Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 hopes

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians may be struggling badly in the ongoing IPL 2026, but their batting coach Kieron Pollard is still not ready to give up. Pollard made it clear that the team still believes it can turn things around after suffering its sixth defeat in just eight matches this season.

The five-time IPL champions are currently sitting at the bottom of the points table with just two wins, but Pollard said the dressing room is still positive and the players are determined to bounce back in the remaining matches to make it to the playoffs, even if the race is almost over for them.

We have not accepted defeat in this tournament: Pollard

Kieron Pollard said in the post-match press conference, “We have not accepted defeat, but we have accepted that we have been losing most of the times so far in this tournament. When I said ‘defeat’, I did not want the headlines to say that Mumbai Indians are out of the tournament, because from a mathematical and points perspective, we are still well ahead in it.”

“So yes, we have accepted defeat because we have lost the last few games. But overall, we have not accepted defeat in this tournament because we are not out of it. We will go back, assess what we can do and see how far we can go in the tournament,” the coach said.
