New Zealand has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies, which is scheduled to begin on November 16 in Christchurch. The Black Caps are currently facing the West Indies in a five-match T20I series, which will be followed by the ODI and Test series.
Surprisingly, former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will not play in the upcoming ODI series against the Caribbean team. Williamson, who recently retired from T20I cricket, has decided to focus on the upcoming ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies next month.

Williamson’s absence allows other players to step up as New Zealand continue to manage the workload amid a busy domestic season. All-rounder Mitchell Santner will once again lead the Black Caps in the upcoming ODI series against the West Indies.
They will be looking to carry forward the momentum of their recent ODI series win over England. New Zealand’s team will also be strengthened by the return of experienced fast bowler Matt Henry, who missed the last two matches against England due to a calf strain.

NZC said Henry is currently undergoing conditioning and rehab to be fully fit for the ODI and Test series against the West Indies.
Meanwhile, Blair Tickner has retained his place in the ODI squad after his excellent performance against England, where he claimed back-to-back Player of the Match awards for impressive spells of 4/34 and 4/64.
Tickner’s remarkable efforts with the ball helped New Zealand to their second ODI series win over England. Well, Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway and Mark Chapman have also been included in the ODI squad. Santner, Bracewell and Rachin Ravindra will handle the spin attack.
Key players to miss NZ vs WI ODI series
Jacob Duffy, Jack Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson and Nathan Smith complete a strong fast bowling attack.
However, several key players including Mohammad Abbas (ribs), Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O’Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin) and Ben Sears (hamstring) have been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series due to their respective injuries.
New Zealand’s ODI squad will assemble in Christchurch on November 14, just two days before the first match of the upcoming ODI series at Hagley Oval on November 16. The Black Caps will be aiming to continue their impressive home record of 10 consecutive ODI series wins on home soil.
They will be high on confidence after the 3-0 clean sweep against England last month. And Kiwi head coach Rob Walter said, “West Indies are always dangerous and have a number of players who can change the game in any format. It’s another important series for us as we grow and improve across formats, so we’re looking forward to what’s to come.”
