Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), one of the most popular franchisees in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is officially for sale. The United Spirits Limited (USL), a British multinational alcoholic beverage company Diazio, has allegedly hired the RCB franchise on sale.
The USL’s decision to sell the franchise comes after the team’s IPL 2025 victory ceremony after the years of speculation and tragic stampede, which claimed 11 people on 4 June.

It is being said that the USL is looking to sell the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in $ 2 billion, which is about 17,762 crore, which is one of the world’s most valuable sports teams.
As reported by CNBC TV18, the CEO of India’s Serum Institute, Adar Poonawalla, is at the forefront of gaining the entire share of USL in RCB. United Spirits Limited (USL) has appointed Global Investment Bank City to manage transactions.

Why is Diazio not interested in Royal Challengers Bangalore?
Earlier this month, Diazio India MD and CEO Praveen Someshwar was quoted by CNBC-TV18, “RCB is an exciting business, but it is non-core for dieso.”
Well, the Royal Challengers Bangalore traveled a high-profile, which began as his first owner with Vijay Mallya and was later acquired by Diazio.
However, the decision to buy RCB may be affected by the rules of the Government of India. Since alcohol is banned in advertising game, it makes investment for Dijio less attractive.

Meanwhile, RCB’s growth in market value has been notable. Despite being one of the oldest IPL teams without a trophy for years, the franchise has created a large -scale fan, thanks to Virat Kohli, who has been with the franchise since the establishment of the IPL in 2008.
