Rawalpindi Pindiz said in an official announcement that fast bowler Naseem Shah has been ruled out for the foreseeable future after suffering an injury during the recent HBL PSL clash against Karachi Kings. The team medical staff is closely monitoring his recovery and are targeting a possible return at the end of the tournament depending on his rehabilitation progress and fitness clearance.

The official statement further mentioned that Pindiz stands firmly with Naseem during this challenging period and is strongly committed to supporting him during his recovery. His presence in the team has been invaluable and the entire franchise is looking forward to seeing him on the field stronger than ever.

Why are there controversies regarding his career?

Injuries are part of being a cricketer. But cricket fans are also thinking from the political aspect regarding the timing of the official statement. The official statement from the franchise comes days after Naseem Shah’s controversial social media post in which he criticized a veteran political personality of Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board accused the fast bowler of violating the code of conduct and also took some other steps.

On 30 March, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued an official statement confirming the fine imposed on Naseem Shah for breaking the rules.

“While offering an unconditional apology, Naseem has been found to have violated various clauses of his central contract and has been fined PKR 2 crore. It was noted that Naseem Shah’s social media advisor has already been dismissed by Naseem and he will be blacklisted by the PCB from associating with any player who comes under the PCB’s jurisdiction,” the official statement read.

‘Hacked’ theory rejected

The fine was due to a post on Shah’s social media account, which was later deleted, criticizing Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The fast bowler claimed in his defense that his account was hacked. But the board officials directly refuted the claim and will take further action to handle the matter. In swift action the PCB first exposed the under-contracted players, then allowed them to stand in their defence.

Naseem Shah would have claimed that whatever was shared about the country’s veteran leader from his profile was shared because his account was hacked. But the board had no faith in the ‘hacked’ theory. Later, what happened officially was released by the board through an official statement.
