Mumbai Indians’ celebratory post after Tilak Verma’s match-winning innings against Punjab Kings seemed like a sharp dig at PBKS fast bowler Arshdeep Singh.
Mumbai Indians are currently at the bottom ninth position in the points table and are out of the competition. Despite playing twelve matches this season, they have only got four wins and are just looking to earn some respect in the points table.

Jasprit Bumrah led Mumbai Indians in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, and in his first match as captain, he excelled in the role as the team ended its losing streak against one of the strongest opponents of the season.
Arshdeep Singh’s ‘dark jibe’ on Tilak Verma
Mumbai Indians’ latest post seems like a jibe at Arshdeep Singh’s earlier Snapchat video on Tilak Verma’s colour. After the video went viral on social media, many fans claimed that the MI team should take action against the insult to their star.
In the clip, the PBKS pacer made the claim in a light-hearted exchange with Mumbai Indians star Guy Tilak and joked about his complexion, where he teased him, calling him ‘dark’, while calling his teammate Naman Dheer the real ‘noor’ of Punjab.

The video posted by Arshdeep was played with the song Channa Mereya, and highlighted the line from the song ‘Andhera tera main le liya’.
Indian spinner demands ban on Arshdeep Singh
The matter also caught the attention of former spinner and commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, who said that the BCCI should take action against Arshdeep Singh. Anyway, the cricketer was sensitive on the topic of racism, as he had struggled with these issues throughout his playing career.
Sivaramakrishnan said, “I told you guys. Tilak can’t say anything right now because he is in the early stages of his career. But BCCI can take action with this evidence.”
Tilak’s promising innings put Mumbai Indians ahead
Punjab Kings scored 200/8 after being invited to bat first in Match 58 of IPL 2026. Prabhsimran Singh led the innings with 57 runs in 32 balls. His knock gave PBKS the platform for a strong score. However, Punjab lost momentum in the middle and death overs. Shardul Thakur continued to strike and finished with 4/39. His magic kept Mumbai Indians in the competition.
Mumbai chased 201 in dramatic fashion and reached 205/4 in 19.5 overs. Ryan Rickelton gave a great start to MI by scoring 48 runs in 23 balls. Despite the fall of wickets in the middle overs, the chase continued. Will Jacques then made an important final cameo. He scored unbeaten 25 runs in 10 balls. MI completed the chase with one ball to spare. The win also gave Jasprit Bumrah a win in his first match as MI captain.
Tilak Verma was the hero by scoring unbeaten 75 runs on 33 balls. His innings included six fours and six sixes. Tilak completed his half-century off 25 balls and controlled the final stages. He attacked the Punjab bowlers under pressure and kept MI ahead in the chase. Tilak ended the match by hitting a six. His innings earned him the Player of the Match award. It also underlined his growing reputation as a finisher
