Recently in a development, former Delhi captain Mithun Manhas is at the forefront to become the next chairman of the control board for cricket in India (BCCI). In particular, BCCI administrators and decision makers held an informal meeting on Saturday before the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM).
Former all -rounder and 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny stepped as BCCI President after the age of 70. According to the Lodha Committee, officers above that age cannot take the post. Rajiv Shukla, who is the BCCI Vice President, has been appointed as the interim president after Binny’s resignation.
Mithun Manhas said Front-Runner to become the President of BCCI
The annual general meeting of the BCCI will be held in Mumbai on 28 September, where candidates will be selected for the key posts in the board. According to a PTI report, Mithun Manhas and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President Raghuram Bhatt is in dispute for the BCCI Presidency.
Mithun Manhas, who has previously worked with Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), is considered to be at the forefront of taking over as President.
However, the final decision will be informed to candidates only on Sunday morning, a few hours before the end of the nomination filing time limit.

Mithun Manas never played for India; Achievements in professional cricket
Mithun Manhas made his professional debut in the 1997/98 season. Manhas never represented India at the international level. However, he led the Delhi team during the absence of national stars like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
He played 157 first -class matches and scored 9,714 runs above 45 on an average, including 27 centuries. The batsman is the seventh leading run-goldter in the Ranji Trophy with 8,554 runs in 206 innings. He scored 4,126 runs, also played 130 List A matches. He scored 1,170 runs in 91 T20 matches.
Manhas has played in seven sessions for Delhi Daredevils, Ab-Defunk Pune Warriors and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He served as the North Zone Convenor for the Dalip Trophy and was part of assistant employees for Gujarat Titans.
Raghuram Bhatt set to become BCCI treasurer
The report further states that Raghuram Bhatt is ready to become a BCCI treasurer, while Prabhatage Singh Bhatia of Chhattisgarh Cricket Association is expected to take the role of joint secretary. Devjit Saikia and Rajiv Shukla are likely to maintain their positions as secretaries and vice -presidents respectively.
Arun Dhumal is likely to continue as the chairman of the IPL, but the board is taking legal advice to determine if they should inspect the cooling-off period. He served as a treasurer for three years before the role.
Elections have also been planned for both BCCI Apex Council and IPL Governing Council. Jaydev Shah, son of former officer-bearer Niranjan Shah, is expected to join the top council.
