“MS Dhoni runs CSK and he will do whatever it takes.”

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif said that MS Dhoni would not hesitate to move on from Ravindra Jadeja if it benefits the long-term plans of Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Kaif said Dhoni’s priority has always been the team’s success and personal bonds will never affect his commitment to winning.

Trade discussions have resumed between Rajasthan Royals and Super Kings regarding a possible move for Sanju Samson. Both the franchises are reportedly working to finalize the deal before November 15. Rajasthan could also buy Jadeja along with Sam Curran or Mathisha Pathirana as part of the exchange.

The biggest goal is to make the team win – Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif said MS Dhoni’s focus is on restoring Chennai Super Kings to their winning ways after their last-place finish in 2025. Kaif said that success in cricket depends on team effort rather than individual talent.

Kaif said on his YouTube channel, “For Dhoni, the biggest goal is to get the team a win. If he is coming to play again, he must be thinking that CSK finished 10th in the standings last year. He is a self-respecting person; hence, his biggest goal will be to get the team another trophy. A team cannot win a trophy on the basis of one player.”

MS Dhoni will sacrifice Ravindra Jadeja for the betterment of the team – Mohammad Kaif

The former cricketer said that MS Dhoni would not hesitate to part ways with Ravindra Jadeja if it would benefit Chennai Super Kings. Kaif said that Dhoni’s decisions are inspired by the goal of making CSK champion again.

“If Jadeja has to make a sacrifice for the betterment of the team, Dhoni will do it. People say how Dhoni works on the basis of friendship and does so, giving him some extra chances. But that doesn’t mean his focus gets diverted from winning. The goal is to make CSK champions. That’s why if it has to be done, he will let Jadeja go. If Dhoni feels he can get a better option for the team, he will take that decision,” Kaif commented. Of.

Jadeja has scored 3,260 runs at an average of 27.86, which includes five half-centuries. The left-arm spinner has taken 170 wickets at an average of 30.52 and an economy rate of 7.67.

At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Jadeja has taken 37 wickets in 55 matches at an average of 27.51. He has also scored 518 runs at a strike rate of around 120.

This also means this is MS Dhoni’s last year – Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif also said that the upcoming IPL season could mark the end of MS Dhoni’s playing career, especially if Chennai Super Kings is successful in bringing in Sanju Samson. He hinted that there may already be discussions behind the scenes between Samson and CSK.

“If there is a possibility of Samson joining CSK, there will be a lot of calls. Sanju must have called. Behind the scenes, there are a lot of phone calls. Sanju must have spoken to CSK, probably Dhoni, ‘Bhai kya lagta hai.’ See, Dhoni runs the team and if CSK wants Sanju this time, then he is also the future captain. This also means that this is Dhoni’s last year. Why would they want Sanju? Jadeja has been playing for them for a long time (since 2012).

Sanju Samson has scored 4,700 runs in 176 matches at an average of 30.75 and a strike rate of around 140. However, questions have been raised about their adaptability to domestic conditions.

The MA Chidambaram Stadium, known for its spin-friendly surface, has not been a pleasant hunting ground for Samson. He has been able to score only 59 runs in five matches at an average of 11.80 and a strike rate of 100.
