Former Team India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Abhinav Mukund gave the fourth position to his former captain and CSK legend MS Dhoni. The blind ranking test included many legends from different countries who won World Cups as captains. So it was very difficult for Mukund to rank all these icons.

Hours after the India vs England 3rd ODI at Lord’s, Cricinfo shared the video of Abhinav Mukund, who is now working as a cricket expert and cricket commentator. MS Dhoni was seen in the Lord’s lounge during the match. Hours later, the media house shared the video content.

Blind ranking video challenge starts with Steve Waugh

The Blind Ranking Test started with former Australia captain and legend Steve Waugh hitting a straight bouncer to Abhinav Mukund, known for his technical batting abilities. Mukund kept the Australian legend at number 3 as more names were to emerge. Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan was seen at second place in the video.

Mukund directly placed Imran at number 5. For third place, it was the great Kapil Dev, who led India to its first World Cup win. Mukund placed Kapil Dev at number three. After Steve Waugh, Imran Khan and Kapil Dev, there was former India captain and the cornerstone of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni.

Abhinav Mukund names MS Dhoni for fourth place

Abhinav Mukund placed Dhoni at fourth position, after Kapil Dev and Steve Waugh and before Imran Khan. First of all, the former international batsman voted for another Australian legend, captain Ricky Ponting. It seemed as if Mukund had given up the top spot on the radar to the great captain who led the Australia national cricket team to multiple World Cup titles and many other trophies.

Ranking of Icons by Abhinav Mukund:

  1. ricky ponting
  2. Kapil Dev
  3. steve waugh
  4. ms dhoni
  5. imran khan
  6. Arjun Ranatunga
  7. clive lloyd
  8. alan border

Abhinav Mukund remained in control in most of the tests

It was clear from the facial expressions of the former India and CSK batsmen that they approached the blind ranking test with proper planning and tried to handle the rankings with extra caution and in a meaningful manner.

From the beginning of the video, the top-order batsman was in control until the last three names appeared on the screen. The reason for Mukund being a little distracted could be Sri Lankan legend Arjun Ranatunga.

Since there were only a few vacant positions left by then, the 6th and 7th positions, Mukund named Ranatunga for the sixth position and West Indies legend Clive Lloyd for the seventh position. Mukund soon realized that he had made a big mistake by placing a legend like Clive Lloyd at number 7 in the list of 8 names.

Actually, he did not expect that Lloyd’s name would be included in the test at the end of the video. MS Dhoni’s call was also quite interesting. Some viewers might have wondered about seeing the former India keeper-batsman at No. 7.
