Will MS Dhoni play all the matches of IPL 2026? Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Vishwanathan faces this question ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to begin on March 28.
Before IPL 2026, franchises including CSK have started their preparations. According to reports, the players participating in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026 will start training soon. Like the last few seasons, this year too many speculations are being made about MS Dhoni.
Will MS Dhoni play all IPL 2026 matches for CSK?
CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan confirmed that the former captain is all set to play all the matches for the team. There were some doubts over MS Dhoni’s availability in the league, mainly due to his age. He is now 44 years old. Vishwanathan dismissed such doubts in no time.
Chennai Super Kings CEO said, “According to me he (MS Dhoni) will play all the matches.”
Who will be the wicketkeeper? CSK CEO replied
Ahead of IPL 2026, the 5-time IPL winners included Rajasthan Royals keeper-batsman Sanju Samson in exchange for Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. With Samson out, who will take the position behind the stumps? Kasi Vishwanathan did not comment on this, because it will be decided by the team management and not the administrative staff.
He said, “I can’t say that. It’s a cricket decision which will be taken by the cricket staff. Not by the administrative staff. So they will decide whether he will play as a batsman or as a wicketkeeper-batsman, or as an impact player.”
Kasi Vishwanath congratulated the Indian national cricket team for winning the T20 World Cup 2026. India went into the tournament as defending champions and finished the title race as defending champions again. India won the title in two consecutive T20 World Cups. Following the 2007 success, the team hoisted the trophy in 2024 and 2026, the highest number of T20 WC trophies ever won by a team.
Sanju Samson and Shivam Dubey are in great form before IPL 2026.
Suryakumar Yadav and his boys were the first players in history to successfully defend the title, and that too on their home soil. Sanju Samson scored 89 runs in the final match against New Zealand. Another CSK player Shivam Dubey also played his role very well throughout the contest. Dubey proved important for the team with both ball and bat. The current form of Dubey and Samson has brought relief to the CSK camp ahead of the IPL 2026 season.
Chennai Super Kings CEO said, “We are very happy that India has won the World Cup, and that too back to back. We are happy because two of CSK’s players, Sanju and Shivam Dubey, have performed very well. This gives us a lot of confidence in the team performing well for CSK here too.”
He further added, “The exercise is going well, there are no problems so far.”
