The matter of defamation of INR100 crore on a large scale of legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is finally moving towards testing after a long wait of more than a decade. The former Indian captain held Zee Media Corporation, Senior Journalist Sudhir Chaudhary, retired IPS officer G. Sampat Kumar, and the News Nation Network had sued the network, accused him of pulling his name in the 2013 IPL betting and spot-fixing scam, despite nothing with it.

In the affidavit, the former Indian captain has confirmed that he is set to face the exam and cross-examination between October 20 and December 10 this year. For the same, the exact date and the site will be finalized in consultation with both sides.

In IPL 2013, three players were arrested and shocwaves were sent through Indian cricket. It even caused two years of suspension for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, which senior officials were found after joining the scam, and at that time, MS Dhoni was the captain of CSK.
Since he was the captain of CSK, Dhoni’s name was pulled into a spot-fixing and betting scam despite repeatedly rejecting any partnership. Now, he is firm to clean his image through a legal battle even after retiring from international cricket in August 2020.
However, the legendary wicketkeeper-better is still active in the IPL and Chennai Super Kings. In the previous season, Dhoni captained the franchise after Ruturaj Gaikwad after getting out of the tournament due to an injury. However, it remains to be seen whether he will return to IPL 2026.
