MS Dhoni congratulated the entire Team India on winning the T20 World Cup 2026 trophy.
Through an Instagram post, MS Dhoni revealed that it was a pleasure to see the Men in Blue with the trophy. While acknowledging the role of Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni said that the mix of smile and intensity was a killer combination. Former keeper-batsman MS Dhoni said it is better not to write anything about the fast bowler as he is a champion bowler.
“History has been made in Ahmedabad, a big congratulations to the team, support staff and all the fans of the Indian cricket team around the world. Great to see you all playing. Coach sir’s smile looks good on you, intensity with the smile is a killer combo, so good. Enjoy guys (don’t write anything about Bumrah, you are the best. Champion bowler)”, MS Dhoni wrote in his Instagram post along with a picture. India’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy celebration.
Jasprit Bumrah did not let the Kiwi team spread its footing.
New Zealand immediately came under pressure in the second innings, as the target was 256. Batsmen like Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips had the ability to make the run chase more intense. But it was Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel who made the run chase impossible.
Sanju Samson’s explosive inning of 89 runs in 46 balls ultimately led to Bumrah being given the best performer of the match award. Jasprit Bumrah took a total of 4 wickets in his 4 over spell at an amazing economy rate of 3.75. During this, the seamer took the wickets of Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner, James Neesham and Matt Henry.
“It feels very special because I have played a final on my home ground but couldn’t win it; today I won. I knew the wicket was flat, so I had to use all my experience. Before this tournament, I was in that zone where I felt I was putting in too much effort because I was bowling well but I felt I was putting in too much effort”, said Jasprit Bumrah at the post-match presentation ceremony.
A special Man of the Match award for the fast bowler
“In this tournament, I just tried to let the game come to me, and that’s been really good. My personal assessment has always been my strength, and to get MOTM on my home ground in the World Cup final, it doesn’t get any better than that”, he added.
In front of India’s score of 255 runs, the Kiwi batting order shattered like a glass house. In 19 overs, they lost all their batsmen for only 159 runs, leaving India in the final by 96 runs. The New Zealand cricket team was barely able to give any special challenge to Team India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
