Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin surprised the fans by announcing his retirement from the IPL on Wednesday, August 27, 27 August. The experienced spinner admitted that the three-month schedule in the tournament was very demanding, saying that he was amazed at how MS Dhoni manage it from year to year.

After leaving the CSK in 2015, Ashwin represented Rising Pune Super Zunts, Punjab Kings, Delhi capitals and Rajasthan Royals before re -joining Chennai in 2025. The off-spinner took 187 wickets in 221 matches and an average of 30.22 economy rate and 7.20 economy rate.
Ashwin ended as the fifth biggest wicket -taker in the history of the tournament. He had already retired from international cricket during the 2024–25 Australia Test series. The cricketer can detect opportunities in the foreign league.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that his IPL retirement had nothing with Chennai Super Kings, which was not to release or trade him. The spinner said that the three -month tournament was very tired to continue in this stage of his career.
He admitted that continuous travel, match and recovery dried him and that age reduced his ability to manage the routine. Ashwin said that he praises MS Dhoni even more, given how the CSK skipper continues to handle the same program.

Ravichandran Ashwin confirmed that his IPL career was over, but he is not moving away from cricket. The 38 -year -old revealed that he had registered for another league, although he chose not to disclose which one.
