Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 campaign with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). However, a hilarious off-field moment caught the attention when franchise entertainer Mr. Nags humorously trolled former captain Virat Kohli during a recent team video.
The defending champions defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets in the series opener at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 28. They chased down the target of 202 runs in just 15.4 overs in front of their home crowd. Kohli scored an unbeaten half-century in the win during his first match.
Mr Nags accused Royal Challengers Bangalore of fielding five foreign players and joked that Kohli had acquired foreign status. This video quickly went viral on social media platforms.
During the popular RCB Insider segment, Nags questioned Kohli about the online rumours. He said that fans believe that Royal Challengers Bangalore have broken IPL rules by playing five foreign players instead of the sanctioned four.
“People say a lot of things about you on social media. You know, people are saying that RCB is playing five foreign players. I don’t understand what they are really saying,” Naggs asked.
Kohli replied, “I don’t know, why are you asking me? Ask foreign players, why are you asking me? I am not a foreign player.”

Royal Challengers Bengaluru enter the Indian Premier League 2026 season as the defending champions. Virat Kohli ended their wait for the title last year. Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium to lift their first trophy after eighteen years.
Virat Kohli has been one of the most consistent performers for RCB since the inaugural IPL season. He has scored 8730 runs at an average of 39.86 and strike rate of 133.15, which includes 64 half-centuries and 8 centuries.
The 37-year-old batsman will see his next match as Royal Challengers Bangalore face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
