The buzz around the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is gaining momentum as the franchises prepare for the much-awaited mini-auction. Unlike previous editions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct the 2026 IPL mini auction in India.
Additionally, the BCCI is planning a smaller, more focused auction, which is likely to take place between December 13 and 15. Although the final date has not been confirmed yet, teams have already started planning their strategies ahead of the retention deadline of November 15.
All eyes on Cameron Green as IPL 2026 mini-auction window confirmed
Adding extra spice to the drama of the auction, Australia’s star all-rounder Cameron Green is expected to be one of the hottest names. After missing the last auction due to injury, Green is all set to spark major interest in the Ten franchise.

The 26-year-old all-rounder, who is known for his explosive batting and smooth bowling, has already represented Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.
Green caught the eye with his limited opportunities in the world’s biggest T20I league and now he could attract an intense bidding war in the 2026 IPL mini auction later this year.
Cameron Green can break IPL auction records!
A report in Cricbuzz suggests that Cameron Green, who has already represented Australia in all formats, could become one of the most expensive players in IPL auction history.
Notably, Green has played 29 IPL matches so far and has scored 707 runs with the help of one century and two fifties. The fast bowler has also taken 16 wickets in the IPL so far. Additionally, the Australian all-rounder has 2868 runs to his name in 84 international games so far.
Green has scored three centuries and 15 half-centuries for Australia across all formats at the highest level. The star all-rounder is currently preparing for the upcoming three-match ODI series against India starting from October 19 in Perth.

Pat Cummins and Travis Head reject IPL Group’s ₹58 crore offer to quit international cricket
Meanwhile, Cameron Green’s Australian teammates Pat Cummins and Travis Head have reportedly turned down a surprise offer of around AUD 10 million (approximately ₹58 crore) to quit international cricket and play full-time in global T20 leagues for an IPL-based franchise.
As reported by The Age, the huge offer was made earlier this year and was aimed at luring the Australian captain and his deputy to leave their national contracts and become full-time franchise players.
However, both Cummins and Head decided to remain loyal to Australian cricket, despite the temptation of a salary almost six times what they currently earn from Cricket Australia.
After the big offer of IPL was exposed, the discussion of privatization of BBL has intensified.
This revelation was possibly made during internal discussions within Cricket Australia about allowing private investment in the Big Bash League (BBL). Some officials reportedly cited the Cummins-Head affair as a warning about how T20 leagues are rapidly changing the financial balance of the game.
Currently, an average Australian player earns around AUD 1.5 million (₹8 crore) from his central contract, which pales in comparison to the lucrative offers being made by global franchises. The incident has sparked intense debate in Australian cricket over how long the top players will continue to resist the pull of big money.
