Mohsin Naqvi’s plan to ‘steal ICC trophy’ exposed after Pakistan’s humiliating defeat to Bangladesh

Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal dealt a direct blow to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi as his national cricket team lost the 3-match ODI series against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Sunday. Akmal asked Naqvi, “Will you now steal ICC trophies and bring them home?”

Mohsin Naqvi was reportedly not happy with the team’s performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, as the team was eliminated from the title race even before reaching the semi-finals. There was news that the board wants to experiment with new faces in place of some of its senior cricketers.

Bangladesh could have scored 350 runs

On paper, Pakistan, the away team, looked strong enough to claim the series. The plans got a big blow when Bangladesh snatched 1scheduled tribe ODI competition Pakistan made a comeback in the second match, making it necessary to win the third match.

“They (Bangladesh) could have easily scored 350 today but could only score 290. Liton Das played slowly. Still we lost,” the former cricketer said during a discussion.

Akmal, who served the PCB as a selector, was so angry that he claimed that even a lower-ranked team like the Netherlands would prefer to face Pakistan to gain the status of a Test-playing nation.

He further said, “The situation is such that now Netherlands would also like to play a series against us, then defeat us and achieve Test status. This is the condition of Pakistan cricket now.”

Former cricketer Mohsin Naqvi was brutally criticized when he quipped over his ‘steal the ICC trophy’ statement.

“If you don’t beat teams in matches, will you now steal ICC trophies and bring them home?” Kamran Akmal raised the question.

PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi, is notorious for snatching the Asia Cup 2025 trophy winners; India refused to take it from him. Team India has not received the trophy yet. According to the latest update, the trophy is still in Mohsin Naqvi’s office.
