Both Mohammad Aamir and Faheem Ashraf have been penalized due to their aggressive gestures during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match on April 23. According to the latest reports, Mohammad Amir and Faheem Ashraf have been fined 10% of their match fees for a Level 1 offense of the league’s code of conduct in match number 34 of PSL 2026.

The incident occurred during Islamabad United’s match against Rawalpindi at the National Stadium in Karachi. During the first innings of the game, Pindiz fast bowler Mohammad Amir aggressively asked the Islamabad batsman to leave the pitch. The gesture made by the fast bowler started the heat between them.

Mohammad Aamir and Faheem Ashraf will have to pay fine

According to the latest update, the PSL authority has found both the cricketers guilty in this incident. While Aamir is accused of using abusive words and provocative gestures, Ashraf is accused of disrupting the match.

According to a media report, Amir was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures that demean or provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman when he is out during a match”.

The report further stated: Faheem Ashraf was found guilty of Article 2.21, which deals with “bringing the sport into disrepute”.

Fast bowler Mohammad Aamir aggressively pointed the way to the dug-out and asked to leave the field. The batsman did not like the gesture made by the bowler. Faheem Ashraf responded even more aggressively.

He turned his bat towards the bowler and uttered some furious words in return. Since the players were in aggressive mode, other players on the field needed to intervene to defuse the situation. Two Rawalpindi fielders went to stop the batsman. The match was stopped for some time due to the heat.

Batting first, Islamabad United scored only 137 runs on a challenging Karachi pitch. Mohammad Aamir bowled well taking two runs. Rawalpindi’s batsmen did not have to work hard to win the match. They got the much-needed win in 18.1 overs. after eight consecutive defeats, Rawalpindiz has registered its first PSL win.

Rawalpindi captain and player of the match Mohammad Rizwan said at the presentation ceremony, “The credit definitely goes to our bowlers. The pitch was a little better for the new ball and the way Amir bowled along with Asif Afridi in the power play was brilliant. We wanted to restrict them to a low score and the 10-15 runs we saved made the difference and helped us win comfortably.”

Islamabad United coach got angry

In a separate incident, Islamabad United coach Luke Ronchi lashed out at a journalist during a press conference. The former Kiwi batsman got angry when the journalist started asking his question and interrupted another journalist’s question.
