The Pakistan Super League (PSL) was again in the news when Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Code of Conduct for Players and Personal Support.

This happened in the sixth game between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings when Qalandars were defending a total of 128 runs against Karachi Kings. The incident occurred in the 19th over of the innings, Hasibullah Khan was found guilty after dismissing the Kings batsman.

Which rule did Hasan Ali violate?

Hasan Ali was found to be in breach of Article 2.5, which deals with “using language, actions or gestures which insult or provoke an aggressive reaction when a batsman is out during a match”.

However, Hasan Ali admitted his mistake for going over the line and apologized to the batsman after the match. Besides, Hasan Ali also accepted the sanctioned amount imposed on him. This action showed that the PCB is not going to show any leniency against those who try to violate the rules.

Is this happening because of recent controversies?

Pakistan cricket team has a deep connection with controversies. Many other incidents before the Hasan Ali incident were also highlighted. Before the league started, news broke that the matches would be played behind closed doors due to oil and gas refinery issues amid the war between the two Asian countries.

Leading into the tournament, when all the captains held a press conference, former Australian batsman David Warner was seen laughing at Mohammad Rizwan and other players, after which he said, “We’ve got some schoolboys here”.

However, this did not stop; Another news came when players started withdrawing just before the start of the tournament so that they can participate in the ongoing 19th edition of the Indian Premier League, which is being played on the same time window as the PSL due to the T20 World Cup campaign.

Therefore, after seeing the incidents of Hasan Ali, it has become very important for PSL to take necessary action against the players so that the game can be preserved.

Despite a disciplinary setback, Karachi Kings produced a composed performance to chase down 129 and seal a four-wicket win over defending champions Lahore Qalandars in the sixth match of the Pakistan Super League 11 at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.

Karachi got off to a shaky start to chase the target as captain David Warner (8) and Salman Ali Aga (0) were dismissed cheaply in the third over, both dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi, leaving the team’s score at 10/2.

Muhammad Wasim played an inning of 38 runs in 37 balls with the help of three fours and one six. He formed important partnerships with Saad Baig (19) and Moeen Ali (18) to keep Karachi on course for victory. However, the team was in trouble at 88/5 after both Wasim and Moeen were out in the 15th over.

The lower order struggled, with Khushdil Shah and Azam Khan putting on a vital partnership of 32 runs for the sixth wicket, reducing the target to just 14 runs in the final over.
