Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB hits back at Blessing Muzarabani after ‘no contract’ allegation

The situation between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. The PCB banned the seamer from participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for 2 years after he left the PSL to join the Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Muzarabani hit back, saying that there was no formal contract between him and PSL franchise Islamabad United (IU). After Blessing Muzarabani’s statement, PCB replied that there was a verbal agreement between the two parties.

Was there any official contract between the team and the player?

Weeks after the 2-year ban imposed by the cricket board, the fast bowler’s agent claimed that Muzarabani did not receive any official contract from the PSL franchise. Without any official papers, how can one breach the contract? The question has been raised. The agent described the PCB’s move to impose a two-year ban on his client as ‘incredibly excessive’.

Hours after the agent’s statement, the PCB issued its version in support of the decision to ban the cricketer. According to media reports, the PCB admitted that there was no official contract between the cricketer and the franchise, but there was a verbal agreement, which Blessing Muzarabani failed to honour.

PCB confirms that franchise has not sent any official letter to Blessing Muzarabani

According to a PTI report, PCB sources claimed that the board’s explanation stated that, despite a solid offer and clear acceptance of key terms, the player chose to ignore those obligations in favor of a conflicting arrangement.

According to PTI report, “The Pakistan Cricket Board admitted that Blessing Muzarabani was never sent a contract to play in the PSL, but insisted that a strong verbal agreement was made with the Zimbabwean fast bowler and that he had breached trust when he joined the Indian Premier League.”

It further mentioned, “The fast bowler’s agent, Rob Humphries, in a social media post on Sunday demanded a ban on the PCB and claimed that his client neither took part in the PSL players auction nor signed any contract with Islamabad United.”

Blessing Muzarabani’s agent fiercely attacks Mohsin Naqvi, who heads the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The seamer’s agent Rob Humphries wrote on social media platform

“[On] February 13, blessings [was] Islamabad United approached about the opportunity to play in the 2026 PSL. deal [was] Agreed subject to obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Zimbabwe Cricket. NOC cannot be obtained without agreement from PSL. Islamabad United/PSL announced the signing to the world via social media, the statement further said.

Amidst the war of words, the main responsibility of the fast bowler is to focus on the performance of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. The team sealed its first win in IPL 2026 against Lucknow Super Giants last night. Muzarabani was not in the playing combination.
