The Asia Cup between India and Pakistan in Dubai ended over a thrilling cricket battle at the 2025 final ground, but it also launched a political storm. After India’s five -wicket victory over Pakistan on 28 September, there was a war of words between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan’s Internal Minister Mohsin Naqvi on social media.
In particular, Mohsin Naqvi also serves as the President of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Naqvi slammed PM Modi to draw politics in the game as he mentioned “Operation Sindoor” in his congratulatory post for the Indian cricket team led by Suryakumar Yadav.
PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ Shout Team India Riles Up Pakistan
Actually, PM Modi made a bold comparison between cricket and battlefield. He linked the final of the Asia Cup 2025 with “Operation Sindoor”, a military strike after a deadly Pahgam terror attack by the Indian Armed Forces, claiming 26 innocent lives.

The Honorable Indian Prime Minister has insisted that like “Operation Sindoor”, the results in Dubai were no different, as India once again defeated Pakistan. PM Modi posted on X: “#Ooperationsindoor on the game’s field. The result is the same – India wins! Congratulations to our cricketers.”

Well, Mohsin Naqvi, who was already angry at refusing to accept the Asia Cup Trophy and winner medals, made a brilliant attack on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and this time, it was not just about the game.
The PCB president accused PM Modi of ruining the spirit of cricket by linking the Asia Cup 2025 finals to the war. The Pakistani minister also claimed that any match result could erase Pakistan’s previous victory over India in the battlefield.
Naqvi re -prepared Modi’s message on X and wrote, “If the war was a measure of your pride, history already records your derogatory defeat in the hands of Pakistan. No cricket match can rewrite that truth. The war only exposes the war in war and humiliates the very spirit of the game.”

However, Naqvi’s claim does not match history, as India has never lost a full -scale war for Pakistan. Bangladesh was created due to India’s victory in the 1971 war, while Pakistan lost the 1965 war and the 1999 Kargil war. And in May 2025, India successfully completed Operation Sindoor.

After Mohsin Naqvi, BCCI took a medal in Asia Cup Trophy and Hotel to register a strong protest
Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has confirmed that he will officially perform a protest with ICC and ACC, as Naqvi took the Asia Cup trophy and a medal in his hotel after refusing to take the team due to India-Pakistan conflicts.
Saikia said, “As far as the trophy is concerned, trophy distribution, India cannot take a trophy from the person who is fighting against our country. We have decided not to accept the trophy, but it does not allow Sajjan to take the trophy and medals to his hotel.”
