The current Asian Cricket Council chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, is adamant on not handing over the Asia Cup trophy to India unless he sends a representative from his office to collect it. Therefore the Indian Board, BCCI has decided to go to the ICC meeting,
Ever since India won the Asia Cup 2025, there have been massive implications over the PCB chief and Pakistan’s interior minister refusing to accept the trophy. He also boosted his ego by taking the trophy.
BCCI has written letters to ACC several times asking them to hand over the trophy to them without any delay. However, the ACC chief continued to refuse to award them the trophy.
BCCI to take Asia Cup trophy dispute to ICC; the meeting has been fixed
BCCI’s aim is to take the talks related to the Asia Cup trophy dispute to the apex international body of cricket. They have been continuously requesting the ACC to get the trophy and have also sent a formal appeal, which has been sealed at the headquarters in Dubai.
However, Mohsin Naqvi recently reacted to the claim by issuing a strict ultimatum that the BCCI would have to send one of the players from the ACC headquarters to accept it from Naqvi himself. Then they could host an event in India; However, he will not be sending the trophy across the border to India.
The BCCI had raised this matter with all the ICC members in the ICC Board meeting to be held from 4 to 7 November in Dubai and had also warned them to approach the ICC. The ICC is currently headed by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah.,

BCCI extends helping hand to ACB and SLC against Mohsin Naqvi
BCCI is struggling alone and is not getting much support; However, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, as well as the Afghanistan Cricket Board, have now joined the scenario by supporting the Board of Control for Cricket in India against Mohsin Naqvi.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board was in support of the BCCI from the beginning, as they have always maintained good relations with the Indian board. Currently, they are hosting the Women’s World Cup together, and will also co-host the upcoming T20 World Cup together.
However, after the death of 3 innocent Afghan cricketers in heinous attacks in Afghan territory, ACB came in support of BCCI and held Pakistan responsible for such attacks. ACB withdraws from tri-series in Pakistan and BCCI supports it in solidarity,
BCCI will pave the way for impeachment against Mohsin Naqvi by ACC
There are only a handful of Test-playing nations in the Asian Cricket Council and India already has the support of two of these boards. With SLC co-hosting an ICC tournament with India and ACB sending their youth team to India to hand them a better platform to shape themselves as better modern cricketers, they do not seem to be going against any of the BCCI’s stance.
Impeachment of Mohsin Naqvi is anyway on the minds of BCCI officials; Additionally, a major portion of ACC’s finances come from sports related to the BCCI and the Indian team. Due to widespread support and continuously increasing pressure, removing Mohsin Naqvi from the chair does not seem far away.
