Mohsin Naqvi is facing trouble after Pakistan’s crushing defeat to India in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir is also upset with the recent defeat and has conveyed his concerns to Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif.
Although India were given the edge over Pakistan, India looked to be well in control with Ishan Kishan playing confidently with the bat. The Indian fast bowlers did the rest with early successes and then the spinners took the tail-enders apart.

Asim Munir got angry with Pakistan’s recent performance against India

Pakistan’s military leadership did not see this as just a cricket disappointment
According to the report of News18, Pakistan’s top military officials including Asim Munir have not marked Pakistan’s defeat against India in the ICC T20 World Cup as a mere sporting defeat or just a cricket disappointment.
He clearly believes that the team was under-prepared for the match and he seems upset by this. Expressing his concern, he has informed Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif about this. As claimed in the report, the message highlights the PCB Mishandling of cricket matters, from team preparation issues to unnecessarily aggressive public statements.
Therefore, it is clear that Mohsin Naqvi’s future in the PCB will now be under some scrutiny. The Pakistani government is not ruling out the possibility of reducing tension by removing Naqvi.
Munir’s equation with Mohsin Naqvi
When the Pakistan government had announced a boycott of India’s games, Mohsin Naqvi had unnecessarily invoked Munir and declared that neither he nor the Pakistan government was in any way intimidated. He then said,Everyone knows our Field Marshal Asir Munir.”
Earlier reports had claimed that the Army Chief’s name surfacing in the context of sports was not seen as a good move by the Army Chief, given his significant influence on civilian affairs. That’s why Naqvi does not have very good relations with Field Marshal Asim Munir.
