Bangladesh has a big role behind the boycott stance
The Pakistan government’s decision to boycott the India match, which was reportedly heavily influenced by Naqvi, came after the Bangladesh cricket team was snubbed from the T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan is taking a tough stand only to support Bangladesh, which is currently ruled by the Yunus government. If the people of Bangladesh elect a democratic government in Dhaka, then Islamabad may also change its mind.

A source told the media, “Naqvi is more than a cricket administrator; he is a politician who is not at all concerned about the welfare of the national team. He is trying to exploit his advantage and make a comeback after the elections on February 12.”
“There are still two days left in the match against India and things can change. Otherwise they know Pakistan can be eliminated.”
Boycotting the India match may reduce Naqvi’s popularity in Pakistan’s domestic politics, but it may cause long-term damage to his cricket. Naqvi and top government officials now have to choose between these two options – short-term politics or a long-term approach to their development in cricket.
