The India vs Pakistan 2026 T20 World Cup match has ended, once again in favor of the Men in Blue. Salman Ali Aga’s team suffered a crushing defeat by 61 runs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who was present last Sunday, left the field before the end of the game.
PTI captured the footage of Mohsin Naqvi leaving the ground early. It is reported that Mohsin Naqvi was angry with the poor performance of the Pakistan team against its arch rival. After weeks of drama and then a U-turn by the PCB over boycotting the India vs Pakistan match, this performance has made things even worse for them.
Mohsin Naqvi expressed ‘displeasure’ with Pakistan team
According to PTI’s source, Mohsin Naqvi expressed his “displeasure” to team manager Naved Akram Cheema after Pakistan’s poor batting performance. “The chairman left the match at Premadasa Stadium early as it became clear that Pakistan would suffer another defeat from India.”
According to a report from a senior PCB official, Mohsin Naqvi also told Cheema that the performance against the Men in Blue was “not understandable or acceptable.” The report further states that the team management is angry with the players and head coach Mike Hesson criticized the players for not playing to their full potential against Suryakumar Yadav’s team.
Will Pakistan make changes in Namibia game?
According to the source report, the Men in Green will make some changes in their final game against Namibia, which has turned into a possible knockout after losing against India. If Pakistan fails to win this game on Wednesday, they will be out of the group stage of the T20 World Cup in consecutive editions.
“Late at night, the management think tank decided enough was enough and it would drop Babar and Shaheen and try Salman Mirza/Naseem Shah and Fakhar Zaman against Namibia on Wednesday,” the source said.
The source also said that if the Men in Green make any changes in their final Group A match, Babar and Shaheen’s T20 World Cup campaign could be over in this edition. The management is keen to try out young Khawaja Nafe in the middle order.
Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi’s career is over?
Questions are being raised on Babar Azam’s form and strike rate in T20 cricket, because he has failed so far in the T20 World Cup. He has scored more than 40 just once, in the second game against the United States. In the first game he was out cheaply after scoring 15 runs in 18 balls and against India he scored 5 runs in 7 balls.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been at his best since returning from a knee injury. In this World Cup, whether in the opening overs or the death overs, he has given away a lot of runs. In the match against India, 31 runs were scored in the two overs he bowled. He has taken three wickets in three matches and his economy is 11.22.
